What is the difference between a private charter and a shared charter?
Shared Charters
A shared charter is just that — “shared’ with other groups that want to explore without paying to rent the entire boat.
On a shared excursion the itinerary is preset by Voodoo Charters and we visit the same or similar spots on every trip on a more set schedule. You will book for the number of guests in your party at a set per-person rate. A shared charter can be a fun way to meet a new vacation friend!
* Shared charters are offered on Voodoo only and can booked for USVI or BVI itineraries
Private Charters
A private charter offers you and your guests an exclusive day on Voodoo and allows for customizable itineraries, as well as flexibility in pickup time and location.
When you choose to rent one of the vessels privately, you get to choose where and what you want to do with guidance from our Captain and staff. A private charter allows you and your group to have the whole boat to yourselves to relax and explore on your schedule. Private charters are an excellent way to create your own floating family or friends’ day!
* Private charters are available on Voodoo & Vorado and can be booked for USVI or BVI itineraries
What can you expect to experience while spending the day with Voodoo Charters?
Enjoy time on the Caribbean Sea, with opportunities to swim and snorkel. Relax on board in our various lounge locations, such as our top deck sun bed or in a bean bag on the front deck. Enjoy delicious cocktails and beverages made by the crew. Explore a wide range of top-notch destinations. Eat lunch with a view at one of our favorite locations, depending on the day’s itinerary. Voodoo aims to leave you with lasting memories of the best day of your vacation.

What should we bring?
For day trips we recommend bringing sunscreen (no aerosol or tinted sunscreen) and towels. Our vessels have ample space on board for personal items, but the truth is you don’t need much!
Where do you pick up?
Trips depart from the National or International Park Dock or beach pick up in Cruz Bay, St. John. Please refer to your confirmation email for your pick-up location.
Where should we park?
Parking is available at the Visitor Center or across the street from the National Park Dock at the Cruz Bay Lumberyard (for a nominal fee).
Are kids welcome?
Of course! Kids will love these boats, and are welcome to use our youth-size snorkeling gear. We welcome all ages, families, and friends to hop on board.
What if it rains?
We have a “rain or shine” policy for all trips. On rare occasions, weather cancellations will occur. Weather-based cancellations are determined at the sole discretion of our Captains on the day of the trip, not before. Should the Captain determine that weather conditions are not suitable for a trip to run, we do our best to offer guests an option to reschedule. If a reschedule is not possible or does not work for our guests’ schedule, we refund any deposits collected.
What is your cancellation policy?
A deposit of 50% of the full charter is due upon booking the charter, with the balance due upon departure. This may be transferred to new dates with a minimum of 30 days notice. Deposits for charters canceled within less than 30 days of pickup are non-transferable. Trips canceled within 48 hours of departure from the dock will be charged 100% of the balance of your total. Failure to appear on time for your trip is considered a cancellation.
Do we do private trips?
Absolutely! Enjoy the boats exclusively and plan a custom itinerary. Private trips are available and ideal for weddings, business functions, and special events. There is an option to upgrade private trips with a high-end bar and additional crew for cocktail service. We recommend booking private trips far in advance.
