FAQs About St. Thomas Excursions
What is the best excursion from St. Thomas?
Well, it’s with us, of course! But in all seriousness, the “best” excursion is one that is customized to your group. We think it should be adventurous yet relaxing, always comfortable, and always fun.
On excursions with Voodoo Charters, we plan the day around your preferences: where you want to go, when to eat, how much snorkeling vs. beach time vs. cruise time, etc. We’ll work out the details with you ahead of time, and our crew will stay tuned in to your group to make adjustments on the fly.
We are visiting on a cruise ship. Can we do a day trip?
Most certainly, and we can pick you up within a 5 minute walk from your cruise ship dock! We often pick folks up who are in port for the day. All of our excursions for cruise ship guests explore the USVI exclusively, which works perfectly with cruise schedules and avoids losing your day to travel or dealing with customs.
If your schedule allows, a full 7 hour day is a great way to feel fully immersed in your Virgin Islands experience. We also offer half-day, 3.5 hour excursions (8:30 AM to Noon, or 1 to 4:30 PM) to fit your schedule better. But if you can swing it, the full day is no doubt the way to go.
Is snorkeling good near St. Thomas?
Yes, so good! Plenty of protected bays with clear water, healthy coral, turtles, rays, and reef fish, shipwrecks even! We choose the best snorkel spots for the day based on weather and water conditions.
Can we take a St. Thomas excursion to St. John?
Yes! And better yet, we are headquartered in St. John, so our captain and crew know the island like the back of their hand. We can plan the perfect St. John day for you.
On a full-day trip, we can head over to the famous North Shore of St. John, making snorkel stops at spots like Maho Bay, probably Lovango Cay, maybe even a jaunt to downtown Cruz Bay if you wish.
However you and your group would like to spend the time you have, let’s do it.
What about food and drinks during the trip?
We can route your trip to include stops at popular floating spots like Pizza Pi or Lime Out, make a stop at Lovango, or do lunch on White Bay on Jost Van Dyke (and a painkiller at Soggy!) We can also arrange for catering on your trip so we’ll just be setup to lunch onboard.
We’ll get this all figured out when we plan the day with you.
Are there bathrooms onboard?
Yep, nice ones too. Two on VOODOO and one on VORADO.
Is this a good trip for kids?
Most absolutely! Our excursions are perfect for families of all shapes and sizes, and safety is our top priority. Key features for kids on every excursion include:

- Plenty of comfort options (shade, bathrooms, beanbags, etc.)
- A day tailored to all ages and interests
Do we need passports for our excursion?
You and your group have the option of exploring the USVI or the BVI. If we’ll be sticking to the USVI, no need for a passport. However…
If you’d like to do the BVI, then yes! Every member of your group must bring a valid passport. We will also send you a waiver to complete online after you book. Simply have your waivers filled out beforehand and bring your passports on the day of the trip, and we’ll handle the rest.
Do you run shared trips from St. Thomas?
No. From St. Thomas, Voodoo Charters provides private excursions only. All shared excursions depart from Cruz Bay, St. John.
However, if you would like to join us for a shared excursion, it is just a short 20 minute ferry ride from Redhook on St. Thomas to Cruz Bay on St. John.
