Newsletter: April 2026

Hey there!
We had a couple on board recently who told the captain an interesting story, thought we’d share…

They had their honeymoon planned in the USVI. She handled the details. He handled getting himself there. The usual division of labor.
Their plan was simple really. Do Buck Island first so they could do very little after that. Fly into St. Thomas, hop a seaplane to St. Croix, do the snorkel and hiking thing at Buck Island Reef National Monument.
A seaplane? Fun! An underwater trail! How exciting! That’s how that part of the plan came to be.
Then they’d head back, ferry to St. John, settle in for the week. A private day on Voodoo Charters’ VORADO was in the books, of course.
But work held him up and he’d need to catch a later flight. She went on ahead. He’d be close behind.
About that last part.

Day 1
She landed in St. Thomas, hopped over to St. Croix on the seaplane, and joined a tour for Buck Island. Exactly as planned.
When he got in, he was desperate to catch up. He searched “Buck Island,” booked a boat, cruised out.
“I’m here, at Turtle Beach!” she texted. “Did the underwater trail, now hiking to the observation point.”
“I’m here too! At Turtle Cove!” he replied. But he wondered… the Captain said this was a wildlife refuge and they couldn’t step foot on the island.
Different island. 40 miles apart.

Day 2
“I’m back. Meet me at Honeymoon Beach!” she texted, resetting the plan.
He searched it, found it, took the ferry, hiked the Lind Point Trail, and made it. Proud of the journey he conquered and amazed at the secret-feeling beach he was now standing on, he texted her.
“Here!” he exclaimed.
“Where? I’ve been hanging at Dinghy’s for hours, they’re looking at me weird now.”
Dinghy’s? He saw nothing but white sand, palm trees, and two people in beach chairs.
Two different beaches. Both beautiful. Miles of turquoise water apart.

Day 3
He had met somebody who could set him up in a villa with a private pool at the Westin. Perfect.
“Stay there. I’ll come to you.” she texted.
“Okay, I’ll be at the pool!”
She ferried over.
She found the Westin St. John. Went to the pool.
Where. Is. He. She wandered around.
“Where are you?”
“I’m sitting at our private pool! Where are you?”
“At THE pool.”
She was at the Westin St. John Resort Villas. He was at the Westin Villas Virgin Islands.
Simple fix this time though, he was just at Westin’s older private villas across the street on the hillside. Actually the same thing, but different on Google Maps.
He came down and found her at the pool.
Finally.

Day 4
They did the only thing left to do.
Private full-day with Voodoo Charters on VORADO.
Beach pickup near Great Cruz Bay. Nothing to do but show up with a towel and sunscreen.
Same boat. Same plan. Same place. All was good now.
And it wasn’t just the best day of the trip.
It was the best honeymoon
Thoughts from the Captain:
Happy April Fool’s Day! But really, it’s worth confirming which islands you’ll be on. And don’t rely too heavily on your phone’s map app. Also, call sometimes, texting doesn’t always cut it.
Oh, and worry about nothing on your day with Voodoo Charters, we’ve got you.
The end.

The best day. No kidding
In the USVI, names can be tricky, but your day on the water won’t be. We’re here to make sure the only thing you have to worry about is whether to leap into the water or take the sea stairs.
